2Choose a photo and position it

When taking it: stand in front of a plain light wall with even light and no shadows; hold the phone at eye level about an arm’s length away and include your shoulders; face the camera with ears and eyebrows visible, no hat. JPG, PNG, WebP or iPhone HEIC.

3Create and check

How big is 3×4 cm in pixels?

At 300 DPI, 3×4 cm is 354×472 pixels. Upload forms usually check pixels, not physical size. If your form states a different DPI, change it under More settings and the pixels are recalculated.

Framing tips

Auto-centering leaves a little space above the head and puts the chin about a quarter of the way up from the bottom. If your photo is cropped too tightly below the chin the face will look large and the checks will say so — take the photo showing your shoulders.

FAQ

Can I enlarge a small photo to 354×472?

Better not. If the cropped area of the original is smaller than the target it has to be enlarged and will look blurry, and some forms reject enlarged photos. The checks warn you when this happens.

Which number is width and which is height?

ID photos are portrait: 354 is the width and 472 is the height.
