Increase a Photo’s Size in KB

The minimum is set to 20 KB — change it to what your form asks. Quality is raised first; if that is not enough, invisible padding data brings the file up to the minimum.

1Photo requirements

Works as is: 2×2 inch (600×600 px), white background, JPG. If the form states its own rules, paste them below and they fill in automatically.

Use this when the form gives inches, cm or mm; it converts to pixels at the DPI above.

The max is counted as 1000 bytes per KB and the min as 1024, so the file passes either way a site counts KB.

Send it to others and they get the same settings (the photo is never included)

2Choose a photo and position it

No ID photo needed: a phone selfie or any ordinary photo works. It centers on your face, crops to the required size and changes the background.

When taking it: stand in front of a plain light wall with even light and no shadows; hold the phone at eye level about an arm’s length away and include your shoulders; face the camera with ears and eyebrows visible, no hat. JPG, PNG, WebP or iPhone HEIC.

Don’t enlarge the image to add KB

The common advice is to make the image bigger. But the form fixes the pixel size, so a bigger image gets rejected for the wrong dimensions. The right fix is to keep the pixels and increase only the file size.

FAQ

Why is my photo so small in KB?

Small pixel sizes and plain backgrounds compress very efficiently in JPEG, so a valid photo can be only 10–15 KB. It does not mean low quality.

Can I set a minimum and a maximum together?

Yes. For "20–50 KB", enter both and the file will land in that range.
