Compress a Photo to 50 KB

The maximum is already set to 50 KB. Choose your photo and pixel size; the checks read the final file and confirm it is under 50 KB.

1Photo requirements

Works as is: 2×2 inch (600×600 px), white background, JPG. If the form states its own rules, paste them below and they fill in automatically.

Use this when the form gives inches, cm or mm; it converts to pixels at the DPI above.

The max is counted as 1000 bytes per KB and the min as 1024, so the file passes either way a site counts KB.

Send it to others and they get the same settings (the photo is never included)

2Choose a photo and position it

Drop a photo here, or

No ID photo needed: a phone selfie or any ordinary photo works. It centers on your face, crops to the required size and changes the background.

When taking it: stand in front of a plain light wall with even light and no shadows; hold the phone at eye level about an arm’s length away and include your shoulders; face the camera with ears and eyebrows visible, no hat. JPG, PNG, WebP or iPhone HEIC.

3Create and check

Why other compressed photos still get rejected

Three common reasons: the tool counted 1 KB as 1024 bytes while the site counts 1000, so a "50 KB" file is slightly over; the pixel size changed while compressing; or the file went below a minimum the form also has. Here the maximum is checked at 1000 bytes per KB, pixels stay fixed, and you can add a minimum too.

Will quality drop?

The highest quality that stays under 50 KB is used. 50 KB is generous for common ID photo sizes, so quality is barely affected.

FAQ

Is "50 KB" the same as "under 50 KB"?

On upload forms, "50 KB", "maximum 50 KB" and "less than 50 KB" all mean the file must not be larger than 50 KB.

Are KB and kb the same?

On forms, yes — both mean kilobytes. MB is megabytes; 1 MB is about 1000 KB.
